It's always a struggle trying to find something fun to do over the weekend. Whether it's the price, location, or just the event, itself, nothing seems to work out as well as we would like. Luckily, we are here to save the day, and are introducing you to several events that are sure to peek your interest. Here is a brief rundown on the hottest city events taking place on the east coast this weekend:

The Sol Studio, located near a few of Harlem's coveted landmarks, the Apollo Theatre and Minton's Playground, is a contemporary art project space and photography studio. Currently it showcases the works of African American artists such as Garry Grant, Lerone Wilson, and Aaron F. Henderson to name a few. Ronnie Rob, a resident of Brooklyn and talented artist, will join interested individuals in an art talk held at the studio. HARLEM EAT UP FESTIVAL

ATTENTION ALL FOODIES...this is the event for you! The first annual Harlem Eat Up Festival allows food lovers of all sorts to literally taste the city of Harlem. This four day festival was developed by Red Rooster's own, Marcus Samuelsson, and event marketer, Herb Karlitz to bring awareness to a vast array of Harlem's tasty businesses. Supporting the community as well, the proceeds from the ticket sales go to Harlem Park to Park and Citymeals-on-Wheels. Come out an enjoy good food, good restaurants, and the good businessmen and businesswomen of Harlem.

Here's something for our vegan foodies. The Vegan Shop-Up brings together some of Brooklyn's finest, locally grown and made foods and goods. This all vegan market also will feature a special book signing of Street Vegan: Recipes and Dispatches from The Cinnamon Snail Food Truck by Chef Adam Sobel and the return of The Cinnamon Snail vegan food truck. See, healthy can be fun too!
CELEBRATION OF BLACK WRITING FESTIVAL

The Art Sanctuary's 31st annual Celebration of Black Writing is composed of several events for all ages, throughout the month of May. The event for this weekend is Sanctuary LIVE! at the Art Sanctuary Gallery (628 S. 16th Street, 7-9 PM). This show will feature rising star, Kriss Mincey and also an open mic section for any interested attendee. Sanctuary LIVE! will be a night of fine art and entertainment!
